Path for Wawa Wasi

With some donations left over from my parents and Callington Methodist Church, we managed to build a small path outside the Wawa Wasi on my last weekend! The area right outside the Wawa Wasi is just mud and turns into a horrid mud bath when it rains (and it sure rains a lot here!) so it seemed like a good use of about 30 pounds to buy some stones, sand, and cement to create a more solid area - this is where the kids go in and out of the Wawa Wasi, wash their hands, clean their teeth, go to the toilet, etc. so no more mud will make it a much more wholesome experience!

There were a few Peruvian hitches, but I'm getting used to those now - the sand didn't turn up because (I found out later) the van had broken down, we'd bought too many stones and not enough cement - but we got there in the end! I helped out on the Saturday morning then I left Vilma and her family to it as they were also going to use the surplus stones to build a path down to where they live.

Sand finally arrives!

Break for some refreshing 'tuna'

Another break, this time for mango

We eventually start laying the stones

And I popped back this morning to admire the finished path. It's not the most beautiful path I've even seen, and it had been raining so it was still wet when I took the photo, but it's a whole lot better than before! Vilma is very pleased and says thank you to all who contributed and she says she's going to put small stones round the edge soon, to finish it off.

So here we have 'Before' ...

... and her is 'After' - with the new path!
